I am trying to build rivendell 2 from source on some 32-bit machines. I've got
everything built on Centos 6, and I successfully built the initial database
using rdadmin. However, I now can not get rdadmin or the other utilities to
open. /var/log/messages contains rdcatchd: aborting - unable to connect to
Core AudioEngine. With the rivendell services stopped, there is a sound card
recognized, and I have tested the built in audio card (AC'97) and it does
generate sound, so I know it functions.

I've installed all the alsa stuff. I did install the ASIHPI drivers for 4XXX
and 6XXX drivers, but we don't have one of those cards installed in the box
currently, and I understand that we can't use 4XXX with rivendell 2, and we
need 64bit support for the 6XXX drivers, so I am just hoping to use the built
in audio card, just so that the toolset can be evaluated.

I've used strace on some of the applications to look for any hidden file access
or other odd errors, but can't seem to find what is happening.

Any ideas on where to look for why I am getting

Unable to start Rivendell System Daemons!

when trying I invoke rdadmin?
