I think I may have answered my own question...I had a light bulb moment:
This is just a logical GUESS. Please someone confirm or clarify if I
have this wrong:
Markers all come down to the transition type:
If the transition type is PLAY, segue markers are ignored, and the cut
plays until the "Cut End" marker.
If the transition type is set to SEGUE, cut plays until the "Segue End"
marker and NOT "Cut End" marker?
Have I got this right?
