Mike
Check the last line in the offending log - the one that just ran out. It
should be a chain log macro. Occasionally our 5 Rivendell 2.19 hosts would
"drop" that last line when the logs were imported using a script and a
music scheduler play list. It is very important that when the log is
imported that this macro is there. The only reliable way we've found to
get it back is to create a new log for that date and re-import the
text/playlist... then edit the last line macro to make next at 00:00,
segue, and enter the next day's log name.
Only once did all five drop that line at the same time and that was
because of a screwed up editing job in the music scheduler. We are
replacing them with newer 3.3 units one by one slowly.
As for administering... I use both tight VNC and real VNC to administer
8 Rivendell Appliances ranging from version 2.5 to 3.3 and (because I have
a routine down) it takes just under an hour to put in the logs for them all
-- two of the units are on Sprint Hotspots as their only internet and one
is on a Hughes Net, the rest are on Wireless (rural) networks -- spanning
about 400 miles from West to East. It is about the only way to go.
Remember, there are more steers than people here in the Heart of Texas so
DSL, Broadband, and fibre are just not available out in the pastures where
we put the towers.
It's kinda like ridin' a range horse, once you get used to it you don't
have to think about it much. Good luck partner.
