nope, whatever the 'git svn clone' actually did it didn't failed, it didn't complained but no git clone of our svn repository was created....I'm going to ask the ASF GitBox guys

I got stuck with the import from svn into git on GitHub. GitHub insists to automatically import and after the rivet svn URL is provided the page is soon stuck with the message "Detecting your project’s version control system…" and disconnect redirecting to a new login form

I turned to attempting an import of the svn stuff myself. An empty repository can be cloned from gitbox.apache.org and I'm following the directions illustrated at

https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-and-Other-Systems-Migrating-to-Git

in order to populate the repository with the whole Apache Rivet development history.

The page at git-scm seems to address all the relevant issues with svn-git import operations (including proper tagging and branches). I've started the process and git-svn is looking into the svn repository history. After 30 minutes it's checking ~r180000 out of the r1836196 revisions in the ASF repository (which makes ~5 more hours to go)

I'll let it got and see tomorrow what kind of output this operation has produced. Stay tuned
