In branch tdbc I also completed a first version of the new DIO code. I
made some preliminary tests with Mariadb/Mysql. I had to redesign the
special fields formatting mechanics contributed by Arnulf Wiedemann long
ago. Special fields in specific tables can automatically be formatted
accordingly to rules specific to a DBMS SQL dialect. This was necessary
in order to have same code shared by the legacy connectors and the Tdbc
based connector and was achieved creating a new hierarchy of classes
that implement these rules
