Which man page? IIGC it's mounted on /dev/fd so you should be able 
to (find it in /etc/fstab and) umount it for the duration of the 
test. Since it provides the fdesc filesystem (man fdesc) I don't 
know if umounting it will even help or even if it would be 
advisable. I do hope you're using a proper testbed and not a 
production server for this ;-p
