Hi!

A month ago, we've released of RKWard 0.5.0c to address some of the more
important bugs. We were in a bit of a hurry, then, as we hoped to get
included in a feature of a large German computer magazine (unfortunately that
did not work out). Due to that hurry, a number of further known bugs were not
addressed in 0.5.0c, and we did not release a KDE 3 version at that time.

Time to address that: I've uploaded initial test releases of both RKWard
0.4.9b for KDE 3 and 0.5.0d for KDE 4 at
http://rkward.sourceforge.net/temp/rkward-0.4.9b-test1.tar.gz and
http://rkward.sourceforge.net/temp/rkward-0.5.0d-test1.tar.gz respectively.
The focus in both releases is on bugfixing (which is why I'm still not
increasing the version number), but for the KDE 3 branch this is also the
first time that Meik's set of plugins on item response theory is made
available in a release.

To make sure the upcoming official releases are as solid as possible, I'd like
to ask you to download and test either version (or of course both, if you can
test on both KDE 3 and KDE 4).

-- Testing --
The first round of testing will be open for one week, until Wednesday, May 3.
Please try to provide your feedback until that day. Please mention each and
every issue that you find, even if it might have previously been mentionend
on this list or elsewhere.

Depending on the outcome of your testing, we will then decide how to proceed.

-- Translations --
Since these are bug-fix releases, existing translations should not need any
(substantial) updates. Of course you may want to use this opportunity to make
some adjustments, or even to start a translation for a new language.

-- (Plugin) developers --
Please don't add any new features until the releases are done, or only after
prior discussion on the -devel list. SVN will be open to feature additions
once the releases are out, officially.

Regards
Thomas
