hi dermot, by default the distribution currently does support SMP, although that may be removed in the future. unfortunately the installer has some problems installing on SMP boxes. these are known problems and are being addressed. in the meantime you can try installing by adding "noapic nosmp" to the install's boot loader. highlight "install redmond linux", hit "e" twice and add the text to the end of the highlighted line. hit enter and then "b". this may or may not work, but it's worth a try.
