Just wondering if anybody else has had difficulties in installing Redmond Linux. I downloaded the iso images from the Redmond Linux FTP server and burned them to CD.
Then I used that CD to install Redmond Linux on a PC which had Red Hat Linux 7.1 installed on it previously. At the very end of the installation (just before writing the backup floppy) I receive an error stating that some of the packages did not install. I am able to continue and write the backup floppy and then reboot. But after rebooting I get stuck at a command prompt both as root and as a regular user. As root I tried to use #startx and it appeared like the program tried to work as the screen changed, but after several minutes it timed out and returned me back to the prompt. I have tried several variations on the installation procedures and they have all ended up the same way. Is there some way to make this work? Any ideas would be appreciated. Kevin - -- rl-users list.
