Function/Category: Consulting Scope: Provides consulting services, including solution development, implementation and closeout, at customer sites. Develops applications for internal use; designs, implements, and presents customer prototypes. Builds application development tools. Oversees the technical progress of ongoing services. Major Responsibilities: * Designs and implements prototypes for use in sales situations and site visits. * Provides reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, products and technologies. * Assists in scoping and defining work effort, resource plan, and estimates cost on phase/project. Participates in project requirements gathering. * Prepares and presents materials for site visits, project work, and training services. * Contributes to service delivery effectiveness through the consistent application of Best Practices as specified by project plans. * Develops and maintains internal applications. * Designs, develops, tests, and implements software applications for internal and external customers. * Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent working knowledge of at least one operating system; demonstrated programming skills using a third or fourth generation language such as SAS; excellent written and oral communication, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate with users with various technical backgrounds. Travel as business requirements dictate at management discretion. Leads system architecture definition and project implementation; works on problems of diverse scope; demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or quantitative field. Experience: Five years current (within the last six years) experience programming in a third or fourth generation language, preferably in technology areas such as application development, client/server, database management systems, data warehousing, or web enablement. Public speaking experience such as presenting papers or classroom teaching preferred. Experience with SAS preferred. Specific industry-related experience may be considered in combination with the above. Prefer certification as SAS Certified Base Programmer, SAS Certified Advanced Programmer or SAS Certified Warehouse Development Specialist.
