Last night was my first RLUG meeting, and I wanted to thank you all for a wonderful experience! It was great to hang out with fellow geeks and Linux or BSD users. I look forward to future meetings and events. If anyone has questions on hardware configurations or repair feel free to drop me a line.
On another note, I've been sifting through some interesting articles on government surveilence of electronic communication. Those of you who were around for the Clipper Chip snafu should find this interesting. The FBI appears to be developing a trojan, similar to Back Orifice, to monitor "dangerous" users. The Magic Lantern trojan program may be recieving new life considering all the legislation on homeland security. This may be something to keep an eye on... fortunately PGP headed off the Clipper Chip at the pass. I hope the security community responds just as well to this threat. For some more info check out http://www.panix.com/~gmcgath/cyberknight.html If you have already discussed this matter before I came to the group, sorry for the redundancy. :)
