Thought I'd share something I encountered.
I had caught some of the chat about Xandros desktop and went to the website to check it out.
As some of you know, Xandros acquired Corel's distro (based on Debian) as well as the
WordPerfect Suite for Linux.
As the RLUG treasurer I decided to ask them if we could get a "demo" or NFR copy to check out
and got the following reply this morning.
"thanks for your interest in Xandros. We have a special 45% discount code
for LUGs, when ordering through our website. Here's the code and the link.
Linux User Group Code: dcce72d486f2
Amount: 45%
direct link:
http://shop.xandros.com/product_info.php?products_id=30
you need to add it to your cart, check out, sign in, and then you'll see the
field for the discount code."
THEN about 2 1/2 hours later, I got the following from somebody else at Xandros
"Dennis,
A CD is on the way for a 30 day eval. If you or LUG members wish to
order the full product use code 7491715b4b20.
Thanks,
Mike Bego"
Their internal communications need some work. One wonders if the products reflect a similar need.
On a whole different note.
PLEASE SEND ME A CONFIRMATION THAT YOU WILL BE ATTENDING THE RLUG CHRISTMAS DINNER.
ALSO INCLUDE YOUR VOTE FOR PREFERRED TYPE OF ENTREE:
BEEF
CHICKEN
FISH
VEGETARIAN
THANKS
Dennis
Women love to be flattered.
So do men."
"Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it."
