I have been using IPCop as my Linux firewall/proxy/content filter/VPN
solution. Version 1.3.x uses IPTables, the 2.4.x Linux kernel, and
FreeS/WAN for VPN. Their newest version has been working seamlessly with
all my Linux and Win2K clients for VPN services. I cannot vouch for how
well it works with Win9X clients.

I have found that downloading a 25MB ISO that is specifically configured for
the above uses saves me a ton of time versus manually configuring and
securing a Mandrake/Debian/RHL distro for the above purposes. The IPCOP
email support is very good with an average turnaround on questions to be
about half a day.

There are some other good choices as well such as Shorewall, Mandrake MNF,
and the LFP projects. Check it out at www.ipcop.org or cruise over to
sourceforge and check out their project pages.

Hope this helps!
Brian
