So after hearing an interesting comparison of Linux vs. Solaris
x86, I've decided to throw it on an old PC I have laying around.
I go to Sun's site and _actually_ manage to navigate to the
section where you can download the ISO images. Then I'm blocked
by a popup telling me the connection to 'javashoplm.sun.com' has
timed out. This has continued for 3 days and each time the
behavior is identical. pinging the site works fine, opening any
sort of connection on port 80 hangs and then times out.

Double-checking, I do the same from two separate remote hosts,
one SunOS in Fallon, NV, one Red Hat in Spokane, WA. The
connections work on BOTH and I can even complete a simple HTTP
transaction using `telnet javashoplm.sun.com 80`.

I can find no rules in my firewall disrupting any traffic on
dport 80, and name resolution works correctly; the correct IP is
pinged on all machines.

The download FAQ at sun.com tells talks about 404 errors (for
which I'd have to complete an HTTP transaction to receive), and
insists using the Sun Download Manager (which, surprise, also
requires a connection to the aforementioned javashoplm site).

Do any of you guys know what's going on? Does anyone else have
the same behavior I describe?

TIA,
Tim Hammerquist
