Assuming you now have and are using a proper "unique" username/password (from the SBC registration
web site)...
We have seen that we really need to drop the DSL modem off the line in order to reliably re-establish
the PPPoE connection in any reasonable timeframe. The management "features" on the D-Link device
aren't particularly conducive to more detailed troubleshooting.
In one of the houses my friend has lived in - which had TRULY funky phone wiring - we disconnected
all the jacks except a couple and the DSL connection was much better. Cordless phones (that play nicely
with any WLANs in the house, really reduce the need for phone jacks all over the place).
Not to add fuel to any ISP fires - but in Reno I have had very good success with Pyramid, who probably
also counts as the little guy.
