Bill, I just bought a microphone at Disability Resources today, which cost me, a person without disabilities, only $2.  Comparable mics new off the shelf cost around $11 - so i figured i'd donate at least a buck!  That's what I'm there for anyway...

I recently bought a $100 pc there, no monitor/mouse/keyboard... but a decent system, 30 gig hard drive, 256 mb ram, and 800 Mhz processor, with dial up modem and network card, usb.

I don't know what they can do for you, but I'll start with an attemt to get an e-mail address, so you can contact them directly.

If i'm not mistaken, seems like you are from Quincy, CA... IF this is what it comes down to, My dad lives in Oroville, Ca (Taking HWY 70, Quincy is roughly 1/2 the way to Oroville...) If you can get everything taken care of, I can pick up a pc for you and drop it off by the end of this year.  Just make sure you tell them you don't need windows and perhaps you will be installing the evil penguin softare ;-)

I'll get back to you!
Jeff

Hi,

Someone recently wrote about donating computers to a place where disabled people can get them. I'm a 63-year-old disabled vet. Would that place have anything for someone like me? Likewise, though I feel like a world-class moocher, anyone with a decent box they're getting rid of, any prospect there. I'm on a fixed income and my box is really getting ratty. Just wondered.

Thanks.

Bill
