There's a lot of interest in a development topic for next month, but is there anyone interested in presenting? I'd like to see a very basic introduction to development in the Linux environment. The presentation should cover the tools only -- talk about compilers, editors, debuggers, etc but don't go into detail on specific programming languages (these can be covered later). Lastly, a book/website review section that introduces development references -- like vi/vim commands, tutorials for bash scripting, C/C++, PERL, Python, Ruby, PHP, Scheme (I'm pushing it), and maybe Prolog (I'm pushing harder) -- would also be great.

LVM2 was mentioned as a possible advanced topic candidate. A possible presentation layout could be: An introduction to the technology (what it does), the capabilities of the system, when you would want to use it, how to configure your system for use, and how to set it up. Let me know if you're interested in presenting on this topic as well.

I'll allocate 1 hour for the beginner-level topic and 30 minutes for the advanced topic.

Let me know if you're interested.
