Orrin,

We're still meeting on campus. The buses have turned out to be an ideal solution to the campus parking issue. Parking in the Circus Circus parking structure is free, and the buses pickup and drop-off right in front of the parking structure. There are many other benefits to meeting on campus as well, like Colin King of the Association of Computing Machinery UNR Student Chapter reserving rooms and equipment for us at a moments notice. Since UNR is a dependable hosting environment -- we don't have to worry about facilities each month -- I don't forsee a change in the meeting location in the near future.

If anyone has suggestions though, I'm all ears.

- Sebastian

Hello,

Has there been any progress in finding a meeting place that
does not include the hassle of remote parking & buses?

We'll be having two talks this month. The first topic will be
presented
by Sebastian Smith and is titled "Linux Backup Methods". This is
a
beginner-level discussion of backup software available on Linux,
and how
to automate its use using simple shell scripts. Our second topic
will be
presented by Brian Morris and is entitled "Fighting Spam at the
ISP
Level". This topic will discuss recent trends in spam and
techniques for
countering them. This is an advanced-level topic.

We will have extra time for short talks or topics this meeting,
so if you
have something of interest you're welcome to bring it up! There
will also
be the obligatory topic tangents, as well as Q&A and general
discussion
time.

As always, we'll head somewhere for beer, food, merriment, and
chat after
the meeting.

THE "WHY" PART
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The objective of a Linux User Group is to provide a focal point
for the
local Linux community to discuss aspects of the Linux operating
system,
provide educational services regarding Linux, maintain a list of
Linux
savvy consultants, and to provide a social environment for Linux
users
to meet and exchange ideas.
If you have any questions please contact info at rlug.org.
Cheers!
P.S. If you know of anyone who may be interested in participating
in RLUG
let
them know about this meeting!
