What: We've heard that wireless security is a joke, now we want to see it
for ourselves. We'll be exploring techniques to speed up WEP cracking,
how to DDOS and spoof APs, and other malicious things. This will be an
exploration of the 802.11x protocols and their security to educate us in
the development of more secure wireless networks.
When: July 22, 2006. 2:00pm.
Where: Scrugham Engineering and Mines Room 203
University of Nevada, Reno
Rules of Engagement: This event is for advanced users. Everyone
attending should have wireless capabilities (laptop, palmtop, etc) --
you must know how your wireless device works before you attend. We'll
have several APs available, but feel free to bring your own. Send
questions to the discussion list.
If this event goes well we may plan another, similar event in the next few
weeks -- I'd like to build a BiQuad antenna so we can test out some
long-range stuff.
If you have ideas for GSA events please send me a detailed email.
