Something is wrong with the mail server or the list software or something. I have sent out a few email that have never hit the list. I can see them in my sent messages. Sebastian and me were talking about it yesterday and I am pretty sure there are a few other people that are having the same issue. Hopefully this will get out.
Yes there is a problem. This list, the rlug-announce list, and just any other email related thing on the box get hammered with spam. A lot of it doesn't even go to legit mail addresses causing the MTA queue to grow with bounce messages that will never deliver. The spam that gets to the list addresses in most cases gets shoved off to the side and requires cleaning periodically. I generally just mass delete anything in these queues.
Sometime last week I got into the box and found the load at about 8-9 most of it being used by mailman. I stopped the listmanager cleaned all of the mail queues out, and started everything back up again so we should be looking a lot better now.
Part of the problem is the spam. The other part is probably that this is all hosted on a cheap "box" at Linode, so we "pay" in that most I/O is pretty slow. But for normal mail and web serving it should be fine.
Sebastian has pinged me a few times about moving stuff to another system. But I don't think either of us have had the time to do it.
