Perl 5.8.0 gave Perl something it had been looking for for years:
good, stable threading support. Now we've got it, what are we
going to do with it? Sam Tregar brings us an example of what you
can do with threads, by constructing an elevator emulator:

Also, Andy Duncan, coauthor of Perl for Oracle DBAs says Perl is
the finest scripting language ever invented for helping Oracle DBAs
in their daily jobs. In this article, Andy explains that Perl's

DBA Toolkit. Along the way, he considers what Ayn Rand might have
thought of these two strange bedfellows.
