Hi all,

I just purchased a Sandisk Sansa Express MP3 player and am looking at
the possibility of my next project being to port rockbox to it. I wanted
to ask a rough estimate from others that have made ports of rockbox what
sort of time estimate it will take to have a very basic port going for
this new platform?

Things that may affect the answer:

* I am not at all familiar with rockbox and its internals yet. I just
found it on the web yesterday.

* I work as a C/C++ software developer so have experience in coding. I
have a little bit of experience in ASM on x86 and a few small embedded
platforms we used at UNI.

* I did a degree in Computer engineering (Digital hardware), though have
had little hands on experience with this since I left UNI 3 years ago.

* From my VERY QUICK research, the Sansa Express has the following basic
architecture:
   Sigmatel STMP36OO series (3630) SoC
From what i understand this uses a ARM926EJ-S based CPU.

With that sort of information, how long do others think it might take me
to work on a port of rockbox if I say spend one or two hours a day on it?

Thanks for the heads up,
Brendon.
