My opinion is that relocatable plugins is completely pointless without
buflib/some other mem management system. (also that relocatable
plugins isnt nearly big enough for GSoC)

My feeling is that new blood is always preferable than paying current
devs. If money is the only reason to not code something then I'm not
sure thats something we would want in the community anyway. Sure
most(?) GSoC students havnt stayed in the project after finishing but
some have. And I really cant see you leaving if you didnt get the
spot. Also think of it like this, if you think you'll have time to
acts as student why not act as a mentor? You get the tshirt *and* help
out the new blood.

I'm not specifically picking on you here, I think anyone we'd consider
as a core dev should be on the mentor side and not the student side
(and if it comes to a choice between a new student and mediocre
project or a currrent dev + great project I'll be voting the new
student.)
