I'm pleased to announced that Rockbox successfully played its first tracks on the Creative players: Creative ZEN Mozaic: Bonobo - Black Sands - Prelude Creative ZEN: Al Jarreau - Boogie Down Creative ZEN X-Fi: Chill Carrier - Beautiful Flow
I had to go the ugly way and simply reformat the internal storage using FAT instead of the proprietary file system. This prevents dual-boot but rockbox works great on those targets ! I also have radio working on the ZEN and ZEN Mozaic, and it is probably a matter of minutes before it works on the X-Fi too. Speaker is not supported yet but I know the pins, only the glue is missing. USB is working fine too and even though we are missing cpu frequency management, the clock is running at a reasonable frequency by default so battery life should be okay. It should be noted that I basically rewrote tools/mkzenboot to make a nice rbutils/mkzenboot with proper support for many options and potentially great integration into Rockbox Utility. The only real problem left for installation is that it needs MTP: we have a tool which works under Linux and Windows (utils/MTP/sendfirm) but it is not integrated into Rockbox Utility and on Linux it depends on libmtp, so any help toward better support & integration is really welcomed here. I should also say that the SD slot of the ZEN and X-Fi is working, but we don't support write protection (although I know the pins involved in WP sensing). Finally, the most important issue: these three targets have a small led (dimmable blue on ZEN, dimmable red/green on others): what should we do with them ? I thought we could use them as a battery indicator (color) + disk activity (flash) if possible. Cheers Amaury Pouly
