I understand that, but UTF-8 is compatible with US-ASCII. Thus is won't
destroy the system, and all users can read the content. The only problem is
that for any CJK content, they'll have to view this in BBEdit, which
supports UTF-8 since the early days...

However, I do not intend to send CJK, so for all intents and purposes,
UTF-8, will be the same as US-ASCII.

The problem is my mail agent defaults to a paticular encoding. This allows
me to read email from a variety of sources and send mail. However, for this
list I have to reconfigure my mail agent. This sucks. UTF-8, does is
harmless for the listserv, but yet is a major inconvience for the clients.

 ciao,
 Joaquin
