*Einfache und universelle Interfaces mit Keyboard- and Mouse-Hacks*
Die am Besten funktionierenden Interfaces an einem Computer sind die
Maus und die Tastatur, die sowohl per Kabel, PS2, USB und Funk
zuverlässig funktionieren. Beide belegen einen eigenen Interrupt, werden
von nahezu jeder Software unterstützt und agieren unabhängig vom
Betriebssystem. Darüber hinaus sind sie als Hardware auch äußerst
preiswert. Diese Eigenschaften machen sie zum idealen Interface für
kreative künstlerische Anwendungen.
Dieser Workshop richtet sich an Fortgeschrittene, kann aber auch von
engagierten Anfängern belegt werden. Im Kurs werden zunächst die
Funktionsweisen von diversen Mäusen und Tastaturen erläutert.
Anschließend werden Möglichkeiten gezeigt, diese so zu hacken und mit
Sensoren auszustatten, dass sie universell als Interface einsetzbar
sind. Darüber hinaus wird vermittelt, wie die Interfaces in verschiede
Programmierumgebungen wie z.B. Max MSP, Pure Data, Flash und Director
eingebunden werden können.
Möglich wäre auch der Bau eines eigenen "Mouseshield" für den
Arduino-Controller. Dieser würde jedem Arduino erlauben,
plattformübergreifend an jedem Computer als Maus erkannt und
dementsprechend auch in div. Installationen als einfaches Interface
eingesetzt zu werden.
Der Workshop wird in deutsch gehalten, Rückfragen auf englisch sind
willkommen.

*Mouse and keyboard hack - the way for a simple and universal interface*

Mouse and keyboards are among the best working interfaces for a
computer. They work wireless or with USB, they are supported by most
software and every OS. And the best is each of them has its own
interrupt. Above all they are cheap and reliable. That's why they are
the perfect base for an artist's universal interface. You simply must
hack them!
In the workshop I'll show you how mice and keyboards function.
Furthermore I'll show you how you can hack them and how you can connect
those keyboards/ mice with switches and sensors. Additional I'll show
some tricks and circuit to turn of the "tilt-function" of a keyboard.
The workshop will enable you to use hacked keyboards and mice for
creating your own interactive installation. It is although possible to
develop a universal Arduino Mouse Shield, which allows the communication
between software and an Arduino pretending to be a computer mouse.
The course language is German. Please feel free to ask questions in
English.
