20:00 Nothing Essential Happens in the Absence of Noise (Berlin anarchist music/media collective Praxis)

UK/GER 2015 Dir: Silvia Biagioni 24 min

Guests: Silvia Biagioni, Christoph Fringeli (Praxis)

Since 1994Praxis Records – a record label founded in London by Christoph Fringeli and currently based in Berlin – and its associated artists produce and distribute rather unusual music: breakcore. In many ways, Praxis is an anti-thesis to the major labels of the music industry: the self-attributed tagline “visibility is a trap“ is a quote from Foucault, there is an affiliated zine called Datacide with articles revolving around resistance, subversion and and illegal parties - teknivals, and the whole venture is being done “not for the kudos, prestige and cash it might bring in, but for the buzz of inter-activity and mutual respect.“.Silvia Biagioni 's “manifestodocumentary” is an introduction to Praxis, shot mainly in VHS and mixed with animations and degraded film materials.

22.00 Sounds Queer (LGBTQI* & Berlin club culture)

GER 2013 Dir: Dan Bahl (Dansen) 60 min

Workshop screening

Guest: Dan Dansen

In portraying the three DJs Tama Sumo, Resom & Ena Lind Sounds Queerconsiders the question whether female DJs gain different experiences than their male colleagues. The portraits give an insight into the subjective environment of the protagonists and their conflicts in this field still dominated by men. Tama Sumo started Djing in Berlin in the 1990s and now holds a residency at Berghain/Panoramabar, a club which is known all over the world. Resom movedfrom Leipzig to Berlin in order to further enhance her DJ-career and because she wants to organize events at ://about blank, a club run by a collective, which operates in the tradition of Techno-D.I.Y.-culture but also aims at transporting left wing political ideas. Ena Lind is the organizer of the queer and feminist “Bend Over“-events, which take place all over Europe. She now wants to approach her DJ-career more professionally. Sounds Queerdraws a fascinating portrait of Berlin, Feminism, Nerdity, queer life, the love for music, the aspiration for self-fulfillment and Djing as a profession.
