Wade 1973 Abtreibung in den USA legalisiert hat, stehen heute reproduktive Rechte dort erneut am Scheideweg. Reversing Roe untersucht die Situation der Abtreibung und der Frauenrechte in den USA. Der Emmy-nominierte Film präsentiert Interviews mit Schlüsselfiguren von beiden Seiten der Debatte, darunter die Ärzte Colleen McNicholas und Curtis Boyd, die Frauenrechtsikone Gloria Steinem, der Präsident von Operation Rescue, Troy Newman, und die Präsidentin der Organisation National Right to Life, Carol Tobias. »Reversing Roe« zeigt den Stand der Debatte im Jahr 2018 und ist ein umfassender Rückblick auf den Werdegang. Anhand einer Fülle von historischem Bildmaterial wird die Zeit bis zur Roe-Entscheidung dargestellt - und der Widerstand dokumentiert, der sich seitdem formiert hat. Drei Jahre später, im Jahre 2021, stellen Gerichtsentscheidungen auf Bundesstaatsebene wie in Texas und die konservative Mehrheit im Obersten Gerichtshof die Zukunft der Roe-Entscheidung in Frage. Drawing from a wealth of historical footage, it charts the period leading up to the Roe decision—and documents the opposition that has followed ever since. Three years on, in 2021, state legal decisions such as in Texas and the conservative majority in the Supreme Court question the future of the Roe decision.
