Die DEFA - Das Staatsfilmunternehmen der DDR Filmabend und Diskussion mit Peter Franzke und Volker Steinkopff Dienstag, 2. Mai, 20 Uhr Die derzeitige Ausstellung "Dorit Margreiter / Amie Siegel" präsentiert unter anderem die Video-Installation Berlin Remake der amerikanischen Künstlerin Amie Siegel, in der sie Szenen aus unterschiedlichen DEFA-Filmen eigenen aktuellen Aufnahmen gegenüberstellt. In diesem Gegenüber entsteht eine unerwartete und beeindruckende Parallelität von Vergangenheit und Gegenwart, von vertrauten Orten und neu konstruierten historischen Kontexten. Anhand von weiteren Beispielen aus der DEFA-Produktion werden Peter Franzke und Volker Steinkopff über Amie Siegels Arbeit sprechen und einen Einblick in die Geschichte der DEFA geben. Beide sind mit allem, was die DEFA betrifft, bestens vertraut: Als Leiter der Mediathek der Universität Oldenburg ist Peter Franzke der Hüter einer einzigartigen Sammlung von 770 35mm-Kopien, Videobändern, Filmzeitschriften, Programmen, Drehbüchern und Plakaten aus der ehemaligen DDR, die seit 1991 zum Bestand der Universität gehören und Nutzern zugänglich gemacht werden. Es ist die umfangreichste Materialsammlung zur DEFA weltweit. Volker Steinkopff war 20 Jahre als Regisseur für Dokumentarfilme bei der DEFA tätig und lehrt seit 1990 im Fach "Kunst und Medien" an der Universität Oldenburg. Er hat u.a. zum Thema "Die Filme der DEFA als soziales Gedächtnis" publiziert. Ausstellung Dorit Margreiter / Amie Siegel, noch bis zum 7. An unexpected parallelism arises between past and present, familiar places and newly constructed historical contexts. Showing several examples from DEFA productions, Peter Franzke and Volker Steinkopff will talk about Amie Siegels work and give an insight into the history of the DEFA. Both are very well informed about the DEFA: as the director of the media library of the University of Oldenburg, Peter Franzke is the keeper of an extraordinary collection of 770 35mm films, videotapes, film magazines, programs, scripts and posters from the former GDR, which since 1991 are part of the University archives and available for research. It is the most extensive material collection regarding the DEFA worldwide. Volker Steinkopff worked 20 years as a director for documentary films with the DEFA and since 1990 he teaches "Art and Media" at the University in Oldenburg. He has, among other things, published on the topic of "The movies of the DEFA as social memory".
