I skimmed your comments, but won't have time to reply till later this evening. I'll also send you a diff (versus Roller 2.1) of the refactoring I have done so far and an explanation of what I'm trying to do.

Sean,

I've made some additional comments on the proposal as well.

This week I plan to be working on the proposed implementation for the new url structure, so anything you can provide WRT your Spring based solution would be great.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for the proposal! Sorry for being AWOL the last few months, but
I'm still really interested in the new URL structure, in the in-process
(but delayed) Spring MVC proposal, and pluggable view technology.

I posted a handful of comments on your proposal on the Wiki.

This basically works together with the Atlas proposal, so it helps to see them both at the same time.

The idea is to redesign the url structure for Roller to provide a consolidated url space per weblog (/<weblog>/*), to add some new features like multi-language support, and lay the ground work for a url layout that provides more flexibility moving forward.

This is a pretty big change, so feel free to discuss on the proposal and here on the list.

NOTE: this is only part 1 of the full proposal. this first part of the proposal focuses on the overall approach and what the new urls might look like. once we are settled on the url structure then i'll work out part 2 which will include more details about how to implement this.
