Check the mail archives around November of 2005. I had proposed upgrading to log4j 1.2.12 There had been some objections to going to 1.2.12, and I had backed down to 1.2.11. I'm not sure if the objections still apply or not.

I can't remember what they were.

The real reason why I'm upgrading to those specific versions is to try
to save me legal paperwork at IBM. If we use an approved version I don't
have to file an application. Unless, anyone needs the new version, I
hope it's ok if we do a minor upgrade.

log4j 1.2.14 is the latest release, and commons-validator's latest
release is 1.3.0. You might want to look into those versions and test
to see if they work with Roller. If we're using Struts 1.2.9, there
shouldn't be an issue with Commons Validator.

More little stuff....

Is it ok if I upgrade log4j from 1.2.11 to 1.2.12?

Is it ok if I upgrade commons-validator from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4?
