Ok, sorry to revisit this, but no one mentioned my favorite editor for windows, 
UltraEdit.  It does all the highlighting, identing and all that, but the best 
part is it supports loading and saving via ftp with a very quick and easy 
interface.  Just hit load from ftp, pick the file then edit and hit save and it 
saves it back.  Much easier than downloading to my computer and editting it 
there.  

I still do most of my editting on the shell via pico, just cuz it's quick and 
easy, but for those long coding projects when you only have windows, UltraEdit 
is the way to go (IMHO of course)
