To set it up correctly, the items should have weights, and the weight/item
check i beleive is part of stock.
However, the problem you are experiencing will also happen if you dump a few
hundred objects in the mud and do an owhere <object>

It is most likely the buffers.  The fix is not simple if you are not
moderatly experienced with C.
However, it may not be. check the logs, and see what the core dump tells you
(assuming unix).
