There I agree 1000% The initial point though was that since it's distributed open source (read as the source is freely available to ANYONE to modify), that proving your work is going to be rather complicated and messy to do in ANY court, unless you've copyrighted said code and have WRITTEN documentation of such copyright. Intelectual copyrights are great, but unfortunately, trying to get them enforced is nasty nasty nasty work:(
