This is a standard problem with buffers and the like. The "workaround" is the only acceptable way to solve this actually.
The problem is that your client can't handle all of the information being sent to it's buffers, so it's disconnecting you. The same problem will pop itself up if you are stuck in a fight that dumps a ton of lines of information to your client.
