I have a similar system on my mud where i only wanted to have one unique obj ever on the mud... after a certain amount of time (5 hours) the mud would repop the obj randomly in a room, then if someone had logged off with the obj, the mud would wait till they had finished logging in (right after the motd in nanny) and strip the obj from them. i used a file in the area dir to keep track of the minutes, and when the minutes hit 5 hours, the mud would repop the item. hope this helps,
