I'm not sure if I should let you all know this....
But I found three different possible solutions in the archives, none of
which worked, which is why I brought it to this list.
Well, after much hair-pulling...it turns out I had loaded and edited my
BACKUP versions of the source...but kept compiling the official version.
boy do I feel stupid.
to be specific:
comm.c, in the act_new function, near the top
replace:
|| ( IS_NPC(to) && !HAS_TRIGGER_MOB(to, TRIG_ACT))
with:
|| ( IS_NPC(to) && !HAS_TRIGGER_MOB(to, TRIG_ACT) && to->desc == NULL
)
Compile, and now I can see comm channels while switched into the mob. I'm
really sorry for dredging that question up again.
As I said, I had tried this and about ten other things ...but they didn't
work because like a moron I was editing the backup file.
