ok ... not to sound like a total goof, but here is what I tried to do, and
where
I got lost.
I received this codebase about 21 months ago. It is the mud that I cut my
teeth on so I know a lot of the history. It is far from stock, and
since, I have
basically gutted fight and update.
I can see what lines are needed to be added in the patch files. I was not
sure if those line numbers added additional whitespace which it counted.
what I mean .. if a line is to be added to line 1354, there is a second number
after that number ... which could be 1367, but under there will be 3 lines
of code. Does that mean it adds a bunch of white space?
Those extra lines could push the patch into the next function, so I am a little
confused. Sorry for not understanding, I usually write everything myself,
rarely use snippets and never use patches.

I'm just curious, not to sound hypercritical or anything, but if you've
got an 8 year old codebase (unless it's not your own but just someone's
you work on), don't you recognize the chunks of code it's referencing in
the patch? I mean at the very least you should be able to see the file
and line # being referenced in the patch, go to that spot in your code,
and look around for matching lines, or do a search in your editor for
it... that's how I've always put in patches, because my own code is far
from stock...

because the codebase I currently have is 8 years old and has more than
and
code base I could
download.
