I just got into this a few months back, and once you get going, it's
really not hard at all, and provides oodles of functionality (I'll list
some examples later) :D I don't remember where I got the initial
kickstart from for my help, but I believe it was from an old posting on
the subject in the mudconnector forums, just go there and search for
mysql... I use 1 connection to the db for the entire mud process, and
leave the handler open during all of gameplay, instead of reopening and
closing it each time I need to update or add something to a db... so far
I've got pfiles in, socials, notes, help files, and most of the
structures for the *_index_data so that I can start working toward
saving area and world state data across reboots... plus, this way, I can
have a mud that is truly able to interface with a web site once I get
that going, as php and mysql are quite friendly together, so I can have
people querying for who's online from the web, or logging into the site
to check or leave notes, or the entire help database, or whatever, maybe
even a web version of OLC at some point... so I'd start in mudconnector
to get the initial function calls and learn how to attach to a db, then
I'd spend a bit of time on the dev.mysql.com site searching for what
functions you need like mysql_fetch_row and mysql_free_result and
whatnot... hope that helps some :)

Subject: MySql

Someone please help lol, I'm so lost....
I need a decently detailed explanation on how to integrate mysql into
ROM.
I learned a bit of Oracle SQL in school, atleast enough to know about
queries and whatnot, so I basicly am just looking for a detailed
explanation how all the steps involved in getting the connections and
what files I need and whatnot, I'll download a snippet for ban or
helpfiles or something then custimize from that point, I'm hoping to get
atleast pfiles in, hopefully one day I'll get areas and whatnot.
