Cyhawk,
I looked back through my disks and found the last version of Rogue
that was out by Mendenbar I think it was. However, I see the modified
ascii automapper code along with the additions from Ackmud but I don't
see that code you posted at all. I can give a copy of the source files
that I have it that would help. I think I have Rogue 2.5, game.org
only has 2.1 available for download. Maybe there were some fixes you
could compare.
Just an idea,
Chris
Ahh, Well its code I wrote myself. (even though its not strictly "rom"
the rom mailing list is where i turn for any of my mud questions ;)
The Code itself is to display a Rogue-like (Nethack, Agaband, Adom)
style Map to each rom room. Ive effectvly
cut up every rom room into a whole area, so sadly most other code wont
be too much help. Instead of the map just
being the description, its the entire room. (The full display code has
various Player info as per Rogue/Nethack,
as well as using ANSI escape codes such as clear screen and Cursor
position for command line stuff, runs nice
in a console, but zmud is another issue, have to figure something out ;)
Also it takes so much space because its
supposed to do alot more than just display the sectors, it will end up
showing mobs, items, exits etc etc.
As for Davion's reply, Yes the maps are already prebuilt, and as to why
i dont just start from ch->x/ch->y is
because i want the entire map to be displayed in a single screen,
Limiting yes, in certin ways, but more powerful
in others. The Ability to see an entire town (or a section of it) at
once is useful, being able to see everywhere
you've been on a given dungeon level is also nice. (Granted I havent
made an automapper yet, confused on how
to even start)
But on the other hand, you did give me an idea that i can later use for
a wilderness (obviously you wouldnt want
to see a 750x500 map on your screen at once.
As for the screwy part of the code, Im not a great coder ;) and my Grasp
on some of the more basic functions of
C is shakey or non-existant, thus the code is layed out so I personaly
can read it easily and figure out what the hell
its supposed to do.
Course if you would like to see the whole code just ask ;) Comments,
suggestions are always appreciated.
