hi, i recently downloaded the free express edition of msvc++ 2005 beta 2
from microsoft, however im coming up with a bunch of errors for strcat and
sprintf and such, for example:
c:\documents and settings\the man\my documents\my
mud\winrot\src\act_info.c(357) : warning C4996: 'strcat' was declared
deprecated
c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\string.h(59) :
see declaration of 'strcat'
c:\documents and settings\the man\my documents\my
mud\winrot\src\act_info.c(364) : warning C4996: 'sprintf' was declared
deprecated
c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\stdio.h(317) :
see declaration of 'sprintf'
c:\documents and settings\the man\my documents\my
mud\winrot\src\act_info.c(365) : warning C4996: 'strcat' was declared
deprecated
c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\string.h(59) :
see declaration of 'strcat'
and much much more of that as you can imagine. I've been looking around for
answers for the last couple days and the obvious solution is to tell it to
ignore these errors...anyway, the best answer is here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/nikolad/archive/2005/01/27/362219.aspx
mainly it says to "So the second way is to use #define
_CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRACATE. This define will make all warnings go away." which
sounds good for a mud, because I really do not want to convert all my
sprintfs and strcats :p...
My problem is this...i dont know what "#define _CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRACATE"
means, i tried putting it in merc.h and string.h(or stdio.h). but can
someone tell me what im not getting here please and thanks:)
