Media are invited to cover the International Launch of the Decade of Roma
Inclusion being held in Sofia on February 2. Participants include Prime
Ministers from Central and Southeast European countries, as well as World Bank
Group President James Wolfensohn and Open Society Institute Chairman George
Soros. A press conference will take place immediately after the launch ceremony
in the Press Center of the Council of Ministers (1 Dondukov Blvd., 1000 Sofia,
Bulgaria).
The Decade of Roma Inclusion, an initiative adopted by eight European
governments, and supported by the international community, represents the first
cooperative international effort to change the lives of Roma in Europe.
Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, FYR Macedonia, Romania, Serbia
and Montenegro, and Slovakia are the founding countries of the Decade, which
will span 2005-2015.
January 23 is the registration deadline. Security procedures will be stringent,
so journalists should factor in extra time for gaining access.

Reprezentantii mass-media sunt invitati la lansarea internationala a Decadei de
Incluziune Sociala a Romilor care va avea loc pe 2 februarie 2005. La eveniment
vor participa prim-ministri ai statelor din Europa Centrala si de Sud-Est,
presedintele Grupului Bancii Modiale, James Wolfensohn, precum si presedintele
Institutului pentru o Societate Deschisa, George Soros.
Dupa ceremonia de lansare va avea loc o conferinta de presa la Centrul de presa
al Consiliului de Ministri. (Blvd. Dondukov nr.1, Sofia 1000, Bulgaria).
Decada Incluziunii Sociale a Romilor, initiativa adoptata de opt guverne
europene si sustinuta de comunitatea internationala, este primul efort de
cooperare internationala pentru schimbarea vietii comunitatii Roma din Europa.
Bulgaria, Croatia, Cehia, Ungaria, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia si Muntenegru si
Slovacia sunt statele fondatoare ale Decadei, care se va derula in perioada
2005-2015.
Termenul limita pentru inregistrare este 23 ianuarie 2005. Pentru a avea acces
la eveniment jurnalistii sunt rugati sa ajunga din timp la locul de
desfasurare, tinand cont de faptul ca masurile de securitate sunt foarte
stricte.
