Declaratia de la Bruxelles a presei europene in  sprijinul jurnalistilor rapiti in Irak Noi, editorii presei europene, ne exprimam solidaritatea cu Florence Aubenas, corespondentul cotidianului francez Liberation, rapita impreuna cu ghidul ei irakian pe 5 ianuarie 2005 si cu cei trei jurnalisti romani, Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Miscoci si Ovidiu Ohanesian, rapiti in Irak pe 28 martie 2005.   Reafirmam ca nu exista libertate fara libertatea de a informa publicul, in orice loc si in orice moment. Acesta este un drept fundamental pe care fiecare dintre noi trebuie sa-l apere si sa-l  promoveze. Cerem institutiilor europene si statelor membre ale Uniunii Europene sa-si intensifice eforturile pentru eliberarea celor cinci si sa actioneze ca aparatori activi ai libertatii de exprimare fara de care nu se poate vorbi de democratie.   Azi, Florence Aubenas, Hussein Hanoun, Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Miscoci si Ovidiu Ohanesian au nevoie de noi. We invite others to sign up before 5 April. The declaration reads : We, editorial directors of European media, express our solidarity with Florence Aubenas, special correspondent for the French daily newspaper Lib�ration, and her Iraqi guide Hussein Hanoun, kidnapped in Iraq on 5 January 2005, as well as reporter Mari Jeanne Ion and cameraman Sorin Dumitru Miscoci of the Romanian television station, Prima TV, and Eduard Ovidiu Ohanesian of the privately-owned daily newspaper, Romania Libera. We reaffirm that there can be no freedom without the freedom to inform the public, everywhere and in every place. This freedom is a fundamental right that every one of us should work to defend and promote. In addition, we call on all European institutions and member countries of the Union, to redouble their efforts for the two hostages. And, more than that, that they make themselves active defenders of press freedom, without which we cannot speak about democracy.
