We apologize for double posting if any. ------------------------------------------------- Open Distance Learning and Personal Learning Environments Reference Number: IT-2007-251-3 9-13 July 2007 - Pesaro, Italy 17-21 September 2007 - Baia Mare, Romania Objectives of the course: The objective of the course is to introduce the participants to considerations needed before successfully providing ODL. Focus will be on: · Basic concepts of Open Distance Learning (ODL); · Pedagogy of ODL; · Planning and Creation of Reusable Learning Objects (RLO); · Learning environments (Web 2.0, open source platforms) and trainers' role; · Competence assessment and E-Portfolio; · Social software and Personal Learning Environment (PLE). The course will provide practical tips as well individual counselling during the training on the basis of participant's real-life experience and needs. Methodology: Combined face to face (F2F) and ODL (using Learning Management Systems), presentations, workshops, hands-on activities, exchange of experiences between participants of the course. The course language is English. Target groups: · Headteachers/principals/managers of schools/organisations offering adult education · Careers officers, educational guides and counsellors · Teacher trainers · Teachers/Teachers in adult education /vocational Teachers Preparation requested in advance of the course: Participants are requested to make a short presentation of who they are, who their employer is and what their needs or experiences are regarding ODL. This presentation should be provided in an electronic form. Outcomes: Improvement of the participant's knowledge and skills on ODL and Personal learning environments, opportunities and difficulties in implementing ODL in adult's education. Example of Best Practice- Session 1: Some Best Practices in ODL- Session 2: Analysis of Best Practices - Session 3: Identification of key issues; Day 2: Learning and teaching styles. Reusable Learning Objects (RLO)- Session 1: Teacher Roles in ODL- Session 2: ODL Course Design- Session 3: Principles of building RLO; Day 3: The ODL kitchen- Session 1: Building a RLO I- Session 2: Building a RLO II- Session 3: Integrating RLO in teaching environments; Day 4: Teaching Environments- Session 1: RLO and Meta-data and storing - Session 2: Open source platforms- Session 3: looking into the future : Web 2.0; Day 5: Technology, social software and Personal Learning Environments- Session 1: Technology, Social Software and PLE- Session 2: Introduction to E-Portfolio- Session 3: E-Portfolio Hands on session; Day 6 (Saturday): Cultural visit - Optional Participation fee: 1250 Euro (all included: tuition, excursions, course materials, book, full-board). Deadlines for submitting the grant application are flexible depending on the country: ask your national agency! 6.
