'STEPS Romania' seeks new project for 2010... This year UK charity 'STEPS Romania' is building a carpentry workshop at a large Roma school in Romania, so that the children can learn woodworking skills, and so stand a better chance of finding a job and helping their families out of poverty when they leave school. In previous years we have helped build a welfare centre for Roma children, refurbish a large hostel for street children and build a hospice for children with AIDS.
We are now looking to start a new project in 2010. Our prime objective is to directly improve the quality of life for disadvantaged children in Romania. We send small teams of volunteers with a variety of D.I.Y skills to spend a week working in Romania. We would like to work with an established Romanian charity or other organisation, which will be responsible for the ongoing management and maintenance when our work is finished.
