Smultea + His family would like to invite you to attend A PARASTAS on Sunday, September 30 (2007) After church services we hope you will support the Casa Romana PICNIC scheduled at 12:30 This will be a celebration of life! Born 9/29/15 in Teregova (Banat) Romania,his life was one of service and, especially after the War, to Romanian refugees and displaced persons like himself both in Eastern Europe and in the United States. The Romanian immigrant community in the San Francisco Bay Area was prime in his heart, and he played a decisive role in establishing and nurturing as founder, president & officer: * 1st Unirea dela Vest Soc. of the Union & League of Rom. Societies of America (1960) * Then Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church (1964) (serving on Board of Athenagoras Orthodox Inst., UC-B Theological Union) * Finally, Casa Romana si Capela (3/21/78) Like Moses, Political Science professor Ilie Smultea did not live to see the realization of his long-held visionl. He was killed in an auto accident on 4/12/97 en route the 300 miles home to Trinidad and office at Hummbolldt State University (Arcata). The following year construction of his beloved Casa Romana si Capela was complete.
