Hi Peter,
I came across your January-posting, and just wanted to ask you some follow-up questions, and share some of my experiences with Rose and WinXP. I've also installed the Rose 2002 with SR-1 and Hotfix on WinXP, but have not experienced this to be without problems. First of all, have you tried roundtrip engineering with Visual Studio 6.0 (C++)? I have, and it does not work at all. I have posted a defect to Rational Support, and it has now been included as a defect to be fixed in the next release of Rose (service release that is, since Rational will do no further development of the Rose product, but has turned all the focus 100% to XDE...). Secondly, are you using Source Safe or something simelar with your model ? I am, and again it does not work very well. I've tried the "trick" of updating the registry, and it did work once or twice, but not any longer.... And thirdly: all the tools in my tools-menu dissapear when loading my rather large model. I then have to open the Add-in manager and re-apply the ticks of the tools I wan't. Usually the tools re-appear in the tools menu, but usually not....(also reported to Rational Support) Finally, the last couple of days, Rose does not want to except my model at all. Rose loads the .mdl-file, then asks to load the subunits, and when everything is loaded, Rose asks me if I want to save ?!??. No matter wether I answer yes or no, Rose terminates with the now classical "will you send an error-report"-dialog from WinXP. I have dualboot on my PC, and hence am able to also work from Win NT 4.0 SP6, where I also have the exact same version with the SR-1 and hotfix also installed, and when running Rose from WinNT, I don't experience any problems at all...... Hence my experience with Rose and XP has NOT been good :-| By the way, Rational Suport Europe have really impressed me during these problems. They are very service minded and helpful ! So keep up the good work you support-guys !!
