You know how annoying this is and that "there's a fix in KDE" sometime.

Well - I just realised that KMail seems to do this kind of thing alright and
that's because it just uses the default (null string) case for all file opens/
saves etc.  Ok with this you don't get the directory remembered by file type but
it's less annoying than it was for opening (say) multiple MIDI files from the
same dir.  So I'm wondering what version of KDE first had the proper fix in so I
can ifdef our behaviour accordingly?  For the moment I'm guessing it's in 306
(KDE 3.1).
