I've tweaked lilypondio.cpp to add an option to output lilypond 2.2 code. It appears to work for me, but I'd be grateful if some people using previous lilypond versions could test that it still works for them.
Note that the code for explicitly writing beam groups hasn't worked since 2.0 -- the beam [ ] syntax was changed to postfix along with all the other indications stuff, and lilypondio.cpp still hasn't been dragged up to date.
