I agree that it would probably make sense to use something that worked this 
way.  J. S. Bach, for example, modulates through all kinds of unwritten key 
changes over the course of a piece, and I can see how entering that kind of 
thing would get tedious fast.

It would really be QUITE difficult to implement what you want, and the code 
would almost certainly be unacceptably unwieldy, but it's thought provoking.

I'm not sure whether that means file it or not.  It's a legitmate enough 
request, but it represents some pretty serious investment of time.

Would I save enough users enough time by doing this for it to be worth 
spending a month's worth of development time cobbling something together?  I 
think I could actually do it, but it wouldn't come easy.  Not easy at all.  I 
have too many other things I really should be doing at the moment, like 
finishing the tutorial, to even seriously consider digging into it.
